BYC will be hosting an Ohio Boating Education Course on Saturday, June 7th. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive their nationally recognized boating license. Course material and textbooks will be provided and will be yours to take home. The format will be a mix of in class instruction and some field demonstrations with a specific focus on sailing vessels and hand powered vessels.
Ohio law requires anyone born on or after January 1, 1982, who operates a boat with more than 10 horsepower* to provide proof of boater education. This requirement can be met by successfully completing an approved boating education course (classroom, online, or home study) or by passing a proficiency exam. Our NASBLA-approved classroom course, developed in partnership with ODNR, the U.S. Power Squadrons, and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, provides a comprehensive learning experience with a minimum of eight hours of instruction and fulfills Ohio's boater education requirement..
